Z.ai, the Beijing-based lab behind the GLM family of open-weight models, confirmed on Monday that it is the creator of Ox Alpha — the mysterious model that appeared anonymously on OpenRouter over the weekend and quickly shot to the top of several AI leaderboards. The company told Bloomberg that Ox Alpha is the newest iteration of its GLM series and said it will release the model’s weights on Wednesday, allowing developers to download and build on it.
