XRPL’s decentralized finance ecosystem is showing a split picture in mid-October, with overall liquidity tightening even as a key vault reaches a new high. According to Ambcrypto, Doppler’s XRP Vault peaked at 90 million tokens, worth more than $127 million, while XRPL’s total value locked (TVL) cooled by roughly $5 million from its late-September peak of $46 million.

That divergence suggests activity is concentrating in specific products rather than spreading across the ecosystem. DefiLlama data cited by Ambcrypto also shows XRPL stablecoin market capitalization fell 6.3% to $1.23 billion, a sign that the capital base available for DeFi protocols is shrinking.

Key facts

  • Doppler’s XRP Vault peaked at 90 million tokens, valued at over $127 million.
  • XRPL’s TVL cooled by about $5 million from its late-September peak of $46 million.
  • XRPL stablecoin market cap dropped 6.3% to $1.23 billion, per DefiLlama.
  • Evernorth reportedly holds 473 million XRP and is preparing an XRPN listing on Nasdaq.
  • XRPL tokenized commodity net inflows hit $2.2 billion in 2026, versus $1.6 billion on Ethereum.

Evernorth’s XRPN listing and the yield question

The planned Nasdaq listing of XRPN by Evernorth could change how investors gain exposure to XRP. Rather than buying XRP directly or holding it in a custodian account, investors could buy XRPN shares for indirect exposure, similar to how Strategy’s MSTR stock provides indirect Bitcoin exposure, one analyst argued on X.

The open question is how Evernorth attracts and keeps shareholders. A yield strategy could encourage investors to buy XRPN shares instead of XRP directly, creating a new source of demand for the token. If Evernorth introduces a yield-farming concept for XRPN holders, Ambcrypto reported that it could create a positive feedback loop of adoption for the XRP ecosystem.

Tokenization activity picks up on XRPL

XRPL’s tokenization metrics offer a counterweight to the liquidity slowdown. The network now appears to be outperforming Ethereum in tokenized commodities, with net inflows of $2.2 billion on XRPL compared with $1.6 billion on Ethereum in 2026, according to the report. Monthly real-world asset transfers on XRPL peaked at $7.03 billion, a 224-fold increase.

Together, the tokenization trends and the potential XRPN yield mechanism could generate fresh demand for XRP heading deeper into the fourth quarter.

Why it matters

The split between falling stablecoin liquidity and record vault holdings matters for anyone holding XRP or building on XRPL. DeFi cycles need capital to sustain themselves, and a shrinking stablecoin base on XRPL limits how much can be deployed into protocols. Doppler’s vault growth shows there is still demand for yield-bearing products, but a single vault is not a substitute for broad liquidity. The XRPN listing could bring a new class of equity investors into contact with XRP exposure, though it remains a single company’s initiative rather than a network-wide change.

What to watch

Two data points will shape the story through the rest of the fourth quarter: whether XRPL’s stablecoin market cap and TVL stabilize or keep sliding, and whether Evernorth confirms a yield mechanism for XRPN holders around its Nasdaq listing. The tokenized commodity inflow gap versus Ethereum is also worth tracking as a signal of where issuance is moving.
