Hyperliquid’s HYPE token fell back below $80, roughly a week after it had reclaimed that level as support, according to AMBCrypto. In the 24 hours before the report, HyperLabs distributed more than 179,000 HYPE, worth about $14.50 million, to the wallets of six team members.

AMBCrypto reported that the distribution was uneven across the six wallets and that the tokens had been unstaked about two days earlier. Those wallets are now the ones to watch for further selling pressure.

Key facts

  • HyperLabs moved over 179,000 HYPE, worth roughly $14.50 million, to six team member wallets in the prior 24 hours.
  • The protocol bought and burned more than 21,000 HYPE, worth about $1.64 million, at an average price of $77.93, per onchain data from Onchain Lens.
  • A subsidiary of Hyperliquid Strategies Inc. filed an application with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission to become a futures commission merchant; at the time of writing it was awaiting approval.
  • HSI reported $620.6 million in profits for the third quarter of this year.
  • After Paradigm’s unstaking, HYPE broke below $80 and set a low of $76 before pulling back upward.

Burns run against team distributions

The fresh supply from team wallets landed as institutions kept selling the altcoin, but the protocol’s burn mechanism acted as a partial counterweight. The buy-and-burn of just over 21,000 HYPE came in at an average price of $77.93, per Onchain Lens wallet data.

That is a real reduction in circulating supply, but by value it covers only a fraction of the $14.50 million just distributed to team members. The two flows are pulling in opposite directions, which helps explain the mixed picture on the price chart.

HSI’s CFTC filing stays in the queue

A subsidiary of Hyperliquid Strategies Inc. has applied to the CFTC to register as a futures commission merchant. If approved, U.S. clients could trade perpetual futures on a regulated platform, though no definitive timing has been set out. AMBCrypto noted the filing was still pending when the report was published.

HSI reported $620.6 million in profits for the third quarter. The company has linked that business to the case for approval, arguing an approved venue would expand its earnings.

Chart signals point to sellers

HYPE is still inside a sideways range but has tilted into a downtrend. The break below $80 followed Paradigm’s unstaking, and the $76 low marked the bottom so far before a short rebound. At the time of writing the token was trading back toward the broken $80 level, potentially for a retest.

Two indicators in the AMBCrypto report lean bearish. The Chaikin Money Flow reading sat at -0.19, pointing to capital leaving the asset, and all three lines of the Directional Movement Index were heading south.

Why it matters

Team-linked transfers are among the most closely watched supply events in token markets because recipients can sell quickly, and the unstaking two days before the transfer shortens that path. The burn programme gives holders a counter-argument, but it has not been large enough in dollar terms to absorb the team distribution on its own. For U.S. traders, the CFTC application is the structural question: a licensed perpetual futures venue would change access rather than daily flows, and HSI’s $620.6 million quarterly profit is the company’s case for getting there.

What to watch

The next signals are whether the six recipient wallets move their HYPE, whether the $75 support that has held for two months survives, and whether the CFTC acts on the futures commission merchant application. A break of $75 would put $70 and $60 in view as the next demand zones, per AMBCrypto’s read of the chart.

This is not financial advice. Crypto markets are volatile and uncertain, and price levels discussed here are technical observations, not predictions.
