US spot Ether ETFs recorded $542.1 million in net outflows during the week ended October 9, 2026, their largest weekly withdrawal since late January, Cointribune reported. The redemptions stretched across nine straight trading sessions starting September 29 and totaled $697.2 million over that stretch, per SoSoValue data cited by the outlet.

BlackRock’s ETHA carried most of the load, with roughly $477 million in withdrawals, about 88% of the weekly total. That was the fund’s heaviest week since mid-December 2025, according to Cointribune. Grayscale’s ETHE saw a far smaller $31.9 million exit.

Key facts

  • Ether ETFs lost $542.1 million for the week ended October 9, 2026, their worst showing since the week ended January 23, when $611.2 million came out.
  • ETHA’s $477 million in weekly outflows were about 88% of the category total, and its Tuesday tally of $201.9 million was its worst single day since January 21.
  • Spot Solana ETFs lost $24.8 million, ending 14 consecutive weeks of net inflows, with Bitwise’s BSOL accounting for $20.9 million, or 84% of the total.
  • Bitcoin ETFs shed about $681 million during the period, according to Blockonomi.
  • Total assets across all Ether ETFs fell 10% over the week to $15.71 billion, while cumulative net inflows since January slipped to $931.8 million from $1.47 billion, per Cointribune.

Ether falls below $2,500 as volume dries up

The ETF outflows landed alongside a weakened spot market. Ether traded near $2,491 on October 10, down more than 7% over seven days, Blockonomi and Cryptobriefing reported. The move pushed ETH below its 50-day simple moving average and beneath the $2,500 level, a threshold traders have treated as a near-term line. Trading volume fell 61% to $7.2 billion, according to Blockonomi.

Other indicators added caution. Blockonomi cited CoinGlass data showing Ethereum balances on exchanges climbing from 11.71 million ETH on October 8 to 11.8 million the next day, the highest level since September 23, while futures open interest fell from 13.29 million to 12.77 million ETH.

Whale buying complicates the bearish read

Blockonomi reported a counterpoint: analyst Ali Martinez said large wallets added roughly 15,000 BTC, more than 166,000 ETH and about 45 million XRP over 72 hours. Cryptobriefing put the crypto-wide outflow at about $1.25 billion across Bitcoin, Ether and Solana ETFs for the week, and noted that cumulative net inflows into US spot Ether ETFs still stood near $13.26 billion as of October 9.

The reports differ on some framing. Cointribune describes the Solana outflow week as the first of that length since these products launched in October 2025; Cryptobriefing describes it as the first outflows since launch. Blockonomi, for its part, frames the ETH data against a “bearish below the 50-day SMA” technical setup that Cointribune does not address.

Why it matters

ETFs are one of the clearest channels through which institutional money enters crypto, so a sustained redemption streak can remove a source of demand just as spot prices weaken. The concentration in ETHA matters because the largest fund in a category is usually the easiest place for big holders to cut exposure. Because Bitcoin and Solana products fell in the same week, the selling looks broad rather than a rotation between assets, though whale purchases described by Blockonomi suggest some large holders were adding rather than trimming.

What to watch

Daily ETF flow data will show whether the nine-session outflow streak extends or breaks. On the price side, Blockonomi flagged $2,370 as the support level to watch, with the 100-day average near $2,200 below it, and the $2,500 level and 50-day average overhead if buyers step back in. Whether Solana ETFs log further redemptions after ending their 14-week inflow run is another signal.

This is not financial advice. Crypto markets are volatile and uncertain, and prices can move sharply in either direction.
