PYTH’s recent double-digit price gain ran into a ceiling at $0.079, where the middle band of its Bollinger Bands was acting as resistance, according to Ambcrypto. The token had already slipped from its highs at the time of the report, and Ambcrypto cited $0.079 as the level that would shape the next move.

Ambcrypto reported on October 22, 2026 that a confirmed rejection at that band would open the way to roughly $0.070, about 10% below the press-time price. The outlet based the call on daily chart readings, not on a forecast of its own.

Key facts

  • PYTH’s price met resistance at $0.079, the Bollinger Bands middle band, at press time.
  • A rejection at that zone would target around $0.070, a 10% decline from the press-time level.
  • The funding rate on PYTH perpetual contracts fell from 0.0038% to 0.0016%, a drop of more than 50%.
  • Total capital in PYTH perpetual contracts rose 3.95% to $54 million.
  • The Aroon Up line declined to 57.14% while Aroon Down held at 0.00%.

Indicators point to weakening momentum

Ambcrypto described the Bollinger Bands middle line as a support-or-resistance level that depends on momentum and the prevailing trend. In PYTH’s case it capped the advance. The Accumulation/Distribution indicator, a volume-weighted measure, was also ticking lower, which the outlet read as a sign of possible further downside.

The Parabolic Stop and Reverse indicator showed bearish pressure on the price building. The Aroon study gave a more mixed reading. Ambcrypto noted that Aroon Up above Aroon Down normally signals a clearly bullish market, and PYTH still had bulls in control. But Aroon Up had slid to 57.14% from its highs while Aroon Down stayed at 0.00%, which the outlet took as evidence of mounting selling pressure.

Ambcrypto framed the pullback as potentially a corrective phase that could precede a stronger rally, while stating that a further decline could not be ruled out.

Leveraged traders pull back on PYTH

CoinGlass data cited by Ambcrypto showed traders scaling back exposure to PYTH even as its price had surged. The funding rate decline meant longs were paying less to hold their positions, a pattern the outlet tied to falling long positioning across the perpetual market.

Open capital in PYTH perpetual contracts still rose 3.95% to $54 million. Ambcrypto’s reading was that long positions still made up most of that money while short positions kept growing, which it flagged as a risk for traders holding PYTH. That combination, a rising short book against declining funding, was the basis for the report’s ‘bears’ trap’ framing.

Why it matters

PYTH holders and perpetual traders face a split setup: spot momentum has faded at a defined level while leverage is shifting under the price. Rising short interest can amplify a move in either direction, and falling funding rates often show that bullish conviction in leveraged positions is thinning. That matters more for traders using margin than for long-term holders, who are watching a token that had just posted a large short-term gain give part of it back.

What to watch

The next signals are whether PYTH holds a close below the $0.079 middle band and how the funding rate and short positioning in perpetual contracts move from the 0.0016% and $54 million readings. A break toward $0.070 would test Ambcrypto’s rejection scenario, while a recovery above the band would weaken it.
