USD.AI’s CHIP token rose 29.1% over 24 hours, lifting its market cap to $135.6 million — the highest level since May — as a token model tied to the project’s creator drew market attention, according to Ambcrypto.
The report links the move to a shift in how crypto projects are expected to return value to token holders, moving away from the buyback-and-burn method many protocols rely on. The jump came as altcoins made double- and triple-digit percentage gains since mid-August, a rotation Ambcrypto describes as sizeable enough to rival the pace of Bitcoin’s own advance.

Key facts
- CHIP was up 29.1% in 24 hours, pushing its market cap to $135.6 million, its highest since May.
- David Choi, co-founder and CEO of Permian Labs and creator of USD.AI, described a ‘commit-and-compound’ model in a post on X.
- Under that model, an operating company buys and holds CHIP instead of the buyback-and-burn approach crypto protocols generally use.
- USD.AI is a permissionless lending protocol built to finance AI infrastructure.
- At the time of writing, the Chaikin Money Flow stood at +0.16, a reading Ambcrypto cites as signalling strong capital inflows.
A different way to accrue value
The concept Choi put forward centres on CHIP sitting at the core of the USD.AI ecosystem, comparable to the role HYPE plays for the Hyperliquid and Tradexyz case. The stated aim is to replace the burn mechanism that most crypto protocols adopt, where tokens are repurchased and destroyed, with a structure where an operating company accumulates and holds the token instead.
Ambcrypto ties the resulting sentiment to what it calls a value accrual ontology — essentially the market’s growing preference for tokens with a clear claim on a company’s earnings or growth rather than those whose supply is reduced mechanically.

On the chart, the analyst notes the downtrend anchored by a $0.044 swing high in June. That resistance gave way in early September, followed by a pullback below $0.040 by the middle of that month, before another push past a then-latest swing high at $0.0625. The swing structure has held since. The Directional Movement Index pointed to a steady uptrend, and the report adds that CHIP’s conditions were not overextended at the time of writing.
Levels in view
The report says CHIP can climb past $0.0717, the current local highs. On a pullback, the $0.043-$0.053 zone is identified as an area worth watching for long-term buyers. A fair value gap between $0.052 and $0.061 is flagged as a demand zone, with $0.056, the midpoint of that imbalance, seen as a level that could produce a bullish reaction. To the upside, the $0.080 and $0.112 levels from April are named as the next price targets.
Why it matters
A token model matters because it determines what a holder actually owns a claim on. Buyback-and-burn reduces supply, but it leaves the underlying business and the token only loosely connected. A commitment model, by contrast, ties a company’s balance sheet to the token’s float and gives the market a visible holder of size to track. For a permissionless lending protocol targeting AI infrastructure financing, that distinction shapes how much of the ecosystem’s growth and investor attention can reach the token itself. The move also matters for the wider altcoin cohort, where projects of similar size have converged on the same question of where capital rotation should land next.
What to watch
Whether CHIP holds above the June swing area and whether it can clear the $0.080 and $0.112 levels from April is the immediate test the report sets out. The $0.056 midpoint of the fair value gap is the level that could confirm or knock back the advance, and the report’s read on money flow — a +0.16 CMF reading — is the signal to watch for signs of that capital rotating out. This is not financial advice, and the digital-asset market is volatile and uncertain.
